Our Heritage

The gap that started organic SUKU  was personal. When founder Lani moved to Australia from Zimbabwe, she found a country full of salons but almost none that could properly wash, treat or style Afro-textured hair.

That experience, one shared by so many people with tighter textures in Australia, became the starting point. In 2019, Lani partnered with stylist Chrissy Zemura to co-create the SUKU Treatment: the first in-salon treatment specifically for tighter textures, informed by trichology and rooted in African hair care traditions.

What started as one treatment in one salon has grown into a full care range, a network of texture-trained salons, and an education programme training stylists across the country.

Guided by your Texture, Grounded in Tradition.

Every formula we make draws on generations of African hair care knowledge, paired with modern trichology and tested by a community of texture specialists.

"We are dedicated to redefining care for Afro-textured hair through luxury experiences, expert education, and a celebration of the diverse ways we choose to wear our hair."

Our Legacy of Texture

  • Inspired by your texture

We formulate for what tighter textures know too well: dryness, shrinkage, breakage and the commitment it takes to get it right.

  • Built with community

Every formula is shaped by our community of texture specialists and people with hair like yours. If it doesn't work in the real world, it doesn't ship.

  • Rooted in tradition

Generations of African women have known how to care for textured hair long before science caught up. Our formulations honour that wisdom and build on it.
